Today morning we had some fun morning work. It was called a "word plexer puzzle". So basically it was a picture with words arranged weirdly - like the answer to the one above is "deadly" because the "lee" is laying on the ground, "dead", therefore "deadlee" or "deadly". One puzzle I really liked was cast weather cast cast cast This puzzle's answer is "weather forecast" because there are four casts. I liked the use of numbers and it took me a long time to get it. I kept thinking it had something to do with "overcast" or "undercast"(which I don't think is a wo...
Today I read an article about Nick D’Aloisio’s application, Summly. Summly sums up articles and gives you the summary. You can also click on a link to read the original article. One reason I think Nick was successful is because he had a clear idea on what he was going to do and a creative mind. He didn’t have any “uhh”s or “umm”s when he was talking about his application. He knew what he was going to do, how he was going to do it, etc. He had the idea to create this app – which proves he has a great, creative mind. Another reason I think he was successful is because he had a lot of supporters. These supporters helped him by giving him money and letting him hire employees and lease office space. This helped him by letting him work with more people and get his project done faster. Otherwise, he might have not even finished his project because of an insufficient amount of money. To sum up, I think Nick D’Aloisio’s app Summly was successful because he had a creative mind, a clear g...
Recently there have been quite a few spaceship failures. Among the many, one especially stood out to me. The first one was the failure of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket that carried cargo and supplies to the ISS. There was a metal strut that broke at 2000 pounds of pressure where it should have withstood 10000. It caused a helium bottle to fall into the second-stage liquid oxygen tank. The unrestrained bottle broke free, releasing the helium inside, and the added pressure caused the oxygen tank to break apart, leading to the disintegration of the rocket. In an investigation, SpaceX showed that even though most of the struts could handle 10000 pounds, there were a few that could not. In the future, SpaceX said that it would test all the struts individually. I think that this is a sad failure, as the whole spaceship was destroyed by one tiny metal strut, a problem that could have been easily prevented. I think that in the future, the struts and components for all spaceships should be chec...
