Apple Refuses to Unlock iPhone in Court Case
Recently, there was a terrorist attack in San Bernandino. The attacker carried an iPhone 5C.
The police picked up the phone after the attack, and tried to unlock it. However, it had a feature activated that erased all the data on the phone after 10 failed password attempts. With this feature, the FBI could not use a brute-force attack on the phone. It asked Apple for help in unlocking the phone.
Apple refused to unlock the phone, stating that it could not crack the passcode either. It also stated that this would cause many privacy issues, from hackers figuring out how to hack the iPhone to a totalitarian government. I agree with Apple, because this is not a one-time scenario as the FBI says. If they get a method to unlock the phone, they will be able to unlock any phone, any time.
I think Apple should take a stand for the future of our privacy.
