After the parade, and important official would give a speech, talking about the hero's good deeds. Finally, there would be a big banquet at a big building.

People will remember the hero if a commemorative festival is held annually, because it would be hammered into their heads - "Festival commemorating _______ tomorrow! People will also remember what the hero did, because the official would provide many details about the great event every year, and so the memory would be refreshed every year, too.
