Lionel Richie Concert

Yesterday night I went to a Lionel Richie concert at the KeyArena. There were some things I didn't like about the concert. First, of all, they had this really bad singer, this special guest dude "CeeLo Green", singing for the first 40 minutes. It was super loud - I guess that was to disguise how he actually sings. Then they had a ridiculous intermission - it was nearly the same amount of time as the time that the first singer sang for! It was boring and there was nothing to do. Plus the food was bad. I barfed. When Lionel Richie was actually singing, it was pretty good. I enjoyed most of the songs, except for some where the people in front of us were standing up and had their butts in our faces. My favorite song was probably the "Thank You" one, where he sings about his father's promise to his mother about love. He was pretty funny, too, making a lot of jokes. In conclusion, I think yesterday's concert was so-so.

End of the HOMESTEAD Simulation!

Today was the official end of the HOMESTEAD simulation! First, everybody totaled up their money. This was done by adding the land values with the current balance. My current balance was $1818, and my land value was $6560. So my total was $8378. That was pretty high, and I think I got around 5th richest. I had so much money because I went on a buying spree for land at the end of the simulation. It was very crazy, and it was exciting seeing how everything turned out. Next, we had to take a quiz. (This is the boring part.) First, as a group, we talked about the answers to all the questions. We answered them after that. Then, we wrote a letter about if we would stay on the real homestead based on our experiences in the simulation. I said I definitely would because I was starting to get really rich when the simulation ended, and I definitely would have wanted to do it in real life if it had been the same way. In conclusion, I would love for the simulation to go on, but the school year

Math Olympiad

Today I went to the math olympiad. In the morning we did the long problem. The long problem was very hard. It was very hard. It was about estimating the amount of skin on a hand. We only got a top and side view of the hand (to scale). It was hard because you had to take into account gaps on the side of fingers, the fact that fingers are round, and that the hands were irregular shapes. In the second part of the morning we did the short problems. These were pretty easy. I did all of them, and there were five or six sections with five problems in each section. The problems were easier than the ones in the long problem. In conclusion, we did well, with a ribbon for the long problem and a medal for the short ones.
