Drug Addiction

Fentanyl is a new drug that is insanely powerful.
At 50 times the power of heroin, 2 mg, or six grains of salt, could be lethal. And this drug is much cheaper, too. It is being produced in Mexico, in illegal labs. It is being produced in China, where it can be ordered in the mail. It does not require large swaths of poppy fields to produce. It can be produced by simple chemistry.
Joseph was a high schooler. He had a job, and earned $12.75 an hour at a nursing home. The year after he graduated from high school, a friend gave him some Percocet pills. When he took them, he instantly felt high. He said that he wanted to feel like that for the rest of his life. His habit quickly escalated to 10 or 20 pills a day. Then he got into fentanyl. He became insanely high and wandered around like a drunkard. Crashing into doors. Doing stupid things. He got put in jail, then right afterwards, he got high again.
Modern technology has made more and more drugs that are even worse than the last. Each one is cheaper, more addictive, more harmful. This story just goes to show how addictive drugs are now
